What are the Motorsport Awards?
The Motorsport Awards is new, totally independent brand, founded in 2018 to help promote and reward championships, teams, companies and unsung heroes.
For 2022 the Awards, voting and grand final will take place entirely online.
Who owns the Motorsport Awards?
The Motorsport Awards® is fully independent and owned by Motorsport Media Ltd. Motorsport Media was co-founded by Lester Forbes.
Why have I never heard of you before?
Maybe because We’re still new, We are fast-growing, fully independent, so you probably wouldn’t have read us about in your favorite magazines or seen us on TV.
We launched in 2018 without much fanfare, much to our shock the first year surpassed all our expectations.
Where is the ceremony held? Can I attend?
We would love to eventually reach the point where we can have a grand final ceremony, We’re not quite ready yet. So the grand final will be streamed online only.
When does voting close?
The Schedule for the 2022 awards is
- Nominations Open Monday 28th November 2022 12 Midday
- Nominations Close Sunday 4th December 2022 9pm
- Finals vote opens Sunday 11th December 12 Midday
- Finals vote closes Monday 9th January 2023 9pm
- Live Grand Final Awards Ceremony – Sunday 22nd January 2023 6pm
The Grand Final of our Awards will be an online stream which you can watch live on this site, on our social media channels and on our official broadcast partner Motorsport Radio’s social media channels.
How do you choose who's included in the final vote?
We believe the best and fairest way is for us to not do what other awards usually do and decide entirely ourselves who makes the final list, Instead we thought to open up every category for public nomination and see who gets the most nominations at the end of November.
Sometimes, when there is a tie for the few remaining places in a top 10 category we do have a tough decision to make and so we carefully consider every nomination, every reason that someone wrote about why they should make the final list and make a decision. Sadly there are sometimes a few people who were nominated but never made the final list.
Why are there so many categories?
When we started planning for the first awards in 2018, we started with the mission of how we can best help promote and reward championships, teams, companies, engineers and unsung heroes that never get recognized in traditional motorsport industry awards.
Since then, we have combined a few categories and dropped other categories and we currently have a much slimmer number of categories.
How are you making money from this?
From day one of planning the awards, We knew launching a new neutral, industry awards would be a mammoth, uphill task. So we decided to focus on building the brand, raising awareness about ourselves and to hopefully create a brand with good standing, integrity and one that fulfills its core aims before we decided to monetize, sell, or license anything which is why in 2019, You wont see any adverts, sponsors or other brands.
The site is currently funded by Motorsport Media Ltd and it’s team who are giving their time, efforts and energy to build and promote the awards.
We aren’t ruling out holding a physical event for an awards ceremony in future though.
Why is there a karting category but not for another type of racing?
After our debut season in 2018, we listened carefully about how we could make improvements to the process, We are of the opinion that if there is enough public interest in something then we’ll include it in the list of categories.
How do you pick the winner of an award?
As with our nominations process, The final vote is fully open to the public and at the end of the voting phase the winner is the one with the most votes. Simple.

Are you just a data harvesting site?
NO.
It’s important to us to keep as much integrity in our voting process as possible. Other awards might use an unsecured method like google forms or some other 3rd party polling company to process people’s data. We have worked very hard to find and have purchased and totally in-house data processing system.
As stated in our terms “We will never sell, rent or trade information about you to other companies” and “Motorsport Media Ltd do not sell, rent or trade any personal information supplied by you to any third party”
The information we ask for is the bare minimum we need to make sure every vote is genuine so no nomination gains an unfair advantage.
Further information on our data processing use can be found on our terms page or you can speak to us directly by calling Motorsport Media Ltd on 0161 408 5408.

The website is too simple to take seriously
Well, We have worked hard over the past 12 months and learned a lot from our first launch in 2018 and we think the best way forward is to keep things as simple as possible.
Sure we could clutter up the site with lots of video and text about how great we are, But under the stress of thousands of a votes a day a heavy, complicated site would likely crash many times, And We know most people would rather visit the site and be able to vote with as fewer clicks as possible.
How did I become on the voting list?
If you have found yourself nominated for an award and you’re wondering how it even happened, It would have been because you were nominated by usually a group of people and usually friends, family, colleagues and fans and the amount of nominations you received means you made the final voting list.
Do you publish the full results?
We are aiming to publish live results on the site as our live grand final is being streamed. Like last year, we will have a full list of results of how everybody performed in each category with each position ranked. At this point, we don’t think it’s fair to nominees who don’t receive many votes to publish exactly how many votes each nomination got, so we wont. Not even if you ask us nicely. Sorry.
